…Council Boss Harps on Peace, Ethical Conduct, and Sustainable Youth Participation in Governance
In furtherance of his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth inclusiveness and participatory governance, the Executive Chairman of Itire–Ikate LCDA, Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo, convened an interactive meeting with progressive youths across the council area.
The engagement served as an open forum for dialogue, exchange of ideas, and partnership-building towards sustainable community growth and development. Discussions centered on key youth-focused themes — engagement, empowerment, employment opportunities, and inclusion in local governance.
Hon. Odunayo underscored the importance of active youth involvement in governance and community development, describing it as essential to achieving meaningful and lasting progress. He assured that his administration will continue to create platforms that will enable young people to contribute to policy formulation and implementation at the grassroots level.
The Council Chairman cautioned against all forms of community unrest and unethical conducts. He urged the youths to uphold peace, discipline, and moral integrity, reiterating that the advancement of Itire–Ikate LCDA rests on the constructive energy and positive participation of its young people, whom he described as “the true engine of grassroots transformation.”
The session also provided an opportunity for the youths to voice their ideas, concerns, and expectations. In response, Hon. Odunayo reaffirmed his administration’s openness to continuous collaboration and commitment to policies that reflect the collective aspirations of the people — particularly the youth demography.
In attendance were the APC LGA Chairman, Alhaji Ayinde Kushimo; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Councillor Olaoluwa Andrew Agbeyangi; Honourable Councillors of the Legislative Arm; Itire–Ikate CDC Chairman, Engr. Fatai Adelani; Senior Legislative Aide to the Member, House of Representatives, Mr. Fola Raheem; top council officials; and several youth representatives from various wards within the LCDA.
